Making Mead
the hubby and I started our first mead today! I'm so excited to learn this skill and hopefully eventually master mead making. If you're not familiar with mead, it's the oldest form of booze, also known as honey wine, because it's made from honey. Because it's so primitive, it's simple to make with common ingredients. It's going to take 6-8 weeks until it's ready, so I won't post the recipe we used until it's finished... cause it might not turn out and I don't want to endorse crap! One of the greatest things I learned from this process so far is that HomeHardware 5 gallon pails are food safe! Not only are they a great primary fermenter but they'll be an amazing value for long term food storage- 3$ each! Check out the first pot- that's a whole lot of raw local honey!! 12 lbs worth 🍯
